Benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical is used to relieve itching caused by insect bites and minor skin irritations.
Benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before using benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical?
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have health problems or use other medications, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not use the spray in a child younger than 6 years without medical advice. Do not use the cream in children under 2 years.
How should I use benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical?
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Use benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical in the affected area not more than 3 times a day.
Use this medicine in a small part of your skin before applying to the entire body.
Topical medicine is for use only on the skin. Do not use on your face, genital area, on blistered or broken skin. Do not cover treated skin with a bandage unless your doctor tells you to.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical is used when needed. If you are on a dosing schedule, skip any missed dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medicine.
What should I avoid while using benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical?
Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes. If this occurs, flush your eyes with water.
What are the possible side effects of benzyl alcohol, camphor, and menthol topical?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor if:
- your condition worsens; or
- your symptoms last more than 7 days or clear up and return within a few days.
Less serious side effects may be more likely, and you may have none at all.
